Baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Coat your tuna fillets with a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Arrange the fillets on a baking sheet and bake for about 30 minutes.

Grilling: Preheat your grill to 500°F. Season your tuna filets generously with salt and pepper.  Grill the fillets for 30 to 60 seconds per side. This yields a tuna steak that is seared on the outside but still raw on the inside.

Pan-searing: Heat oil in a pan over high heat. Pat your tuna filets with a paper towel to dry the surface. Season the filets with salt and pepper. Place the filets in the pan and sear for 30 seconds to 1 minute without moving them. Flip the filets and sear the other side for another 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Fresh gulf blue fin tuna has a rich buttery flavor and a firm, meaty texture. That richness allows you the chance to cook this fish in many ways. One of the most popular ways to eat bluefin is sushi or sashimi, in which case it tastes best with the salty flavor of soy sauce. However, citrus and many other seasoning options will work well with bluefin tuna.

All that delicious buttery flavor needs to come from somewhere. In this case, the omega-3 fatty acids in bluefin tuna contribute to that awesome flavor. Along with those healthy fats, bluefin also offers B vitamins, potassium, iodine, magnesium, and zinc. The selenium found in bluefin can help eliminate free radicals from your body. Eating bluefin tuna has also been shown to benefit weight loss, heart health, and vision problems.

ABOUT SKIPPERS

Where We Catch Our Fish

Latitude: 30° 23’ 36.456” N
Longitude: -86° 30’ 35.422” W
We catch all of our fresh fish products directly from the Gulf of Mexico, using nothing more than rods and reels. We typically set our lines at a depth of about 30 to 200 feet which allows us to reel in the wide range of fish species we offer. Our fishing practices are entirely sustainable, which means we don’t use tools like large nets that capture sea creatures indiscriminately and harm the ocean’s ecosystem. After we bring in a catch, we clean every fish by hand and keep only the best cuts before packaging them and shipping them to you.

About Skipper's Fresh Seafood

At Skipper's Seafood, we dedicate ourselves to providing the highest-quality seafood from hook to table across the country. We're proud to say that our products are sustainably caught and fresher than anything you can find at your local grocery store.
